For all you "Fluties" out there who wish to perform using a microphone, but don't want to be tethered to your amplifier, I'm now offering an economical, yet effective wireless microphone. I've used this mic at the arts/crafts shows and the range is great, up to 30 meters. Line of sight is not necessary. The quality is good, and works well for the N.A. flute. Makes a perfect gift for that flute player who has everything!

Just clip the microphone to the leather tie that holds your bird. Plug it into the transmitter that clips to your belt or other convenient place on your apparel. Also comes with a headset microphone for more convenience. The earpiece is not a headphone, but just a padded surface. You can use either the clip on lavaliere mic clipped to your flute or the head set, but not both. Plug the mic into the transmitter that you wear on your belt. Plug in the receiver to your amplifier (standard 1/4" jack), turn the receiver and transmitter on and play. You can walk all around the room, the stage or the area and play your flute through your amp and effects without the wire. The transmitter operates on FM frequency for a clear transmission. If you're thinking of getting a wireless mic or you know someone with a flute that wants one, this makes a perfect accessory.

I also carry the Roland Micro Cube portable battery powered amplifier with reverb and echo. Purchase the two together and save!

This microphone receiver which uses one 9v transistor radio battery and one AAA penlight battery, plugs into your P.A. or guitar amplifier with a standard 1/4" plug. It cannot be wired into the back of your stereo as there is an impedance mismatch. As with all microphones, this receiver requires a preamp which your PA or guitar type amplifier will have. A home stereo's aux inputs operate at a different impedance. If you do adapt it to the aux input on your stereo, the volume will be too low. However, it will work just fine with your PA, guitar amplifier or Roland Micro Cube. I might also add, if you want echo, delay or reverb like you hear on the CDs, that effect comes from a processor which your PA or amp may have. (The Roland Micro Cube has effects built in.) If effects are not present in your amplifier, they can be purchased as an "effects processor" from your local pro music store.

I recommend mounting the microphone on the side of the flute next to the sound window using the leather tie that holds the bird. If mounted in front of the sound window, you'll get rumble from wind noise. If clipping the mic to the flute is not an option, you can use the head set microphone.

Just in, I've acquired the Audio-Technica ATR3350 wired lavalier microphones for those who prefer a higher quality sound.

If you prefer a better quality microphone, one that is more suited to recording purposes as well as for playing live, I recommend the Audio-Technica ATR3350. This mic connects to your amplifier, PA or recording gear with either a 1/8" standard male plug or a 1/4" standard male plug. The setup comes with a microphone, wind screen, clip, 1/8" to 1/4" plug adapter and a battery. It is an Omni directional microphone that is very sensitive. You can either clip it to the leather tie on your flute or to your clothing. I personally like to clip mine to my shirt for the higher pitched flutes, which play more loudly, and to the flute just behind the sound window for the lower pitched flutes. This mic comes with a lifetime warranty from Audio Technica. If it breaks, you send it in to the factory and they repair it or replace it for free. Below are some photos of this wonderful sounding microphone.

If you're looking for a higher quality microphone, you won't find a better value than the Audio-Technica ATR3350. This mic also works extremely well with the Roland Micro Cube which I also offer on this site. Purchase the two together and save $5.00.
