Photos of Where I Live & Work
A deep, rich, powerful flute, true to the namesake of it's origin with it's
power, beauty and strength. I had the
great fortune to live on Oahu waay back in the mid seventies and will be forever
in love with the Islands. I was impressed by the strength and tenacity of the
locals as well as the miraculous beauty of Hawaii and all it's people. I feel that the strength of
this flute as well as the natural beauty of the wood hearkens back to the
wonderment of that sacred place. I've accented the flute with a design that
reminded me of some of the local tattoos.
The bird is of figured Chechen Negro which is indigenous to Central America.
This particular Koa tree that gave us the wood for the flute is from Kauai. It was blown down in a hurricane.
Now, it lives again to bring Joy to whosoever hears to it's haunting melodies.
Let the warm tones and the tropical woods bring your soul peace and comfort.

Let the sounds of this Native American flute take you away to the lands of
trade winds, towering green mountains, endless oceans, perfect skies filled with
fluffy white clouds and rainbows. I promise you will be enchanted by the warm
wood and the warm tones that come from this marvelous instrument.

An unsolicited testimonial about the first Hawaiian Koa flute....
Well, the Koa flute arrived today... curiously, as I just
happened to be thinking to myself, "I wonder if the Koa flute will arrive
today?" That was a pretty quick turn-around if I do say so. I held my
breath as I opened the box and slid the flute out. Now I have to say that
I probably shouldn't have held my breath because what I saw took that
First, I had to inspect it, and I'm relieved to report that
the flute is in perfect condition after it's trip halfway around the
world; it's absolutely flawless. But what's more, it is simply BEAUTIFUL!
My, my, but Koa is such an attractive wood for Native American-style
flutes. Your inlays are pure elegant simplicity, the wood used for the
bird compliments the rest of the flute smartly, and the eye-catching
high-gloss finish looks quite durable. In short, the workmanship is
impeccable regarding every aspect of this instrument.
And then there's THAT TONE! That, my friend, is what
it's all about at the end of the day, and this one is every bit as sweet
as the others you've made for me but with a slight extra "mellow
throatiness" that I immediately found attractive. I've already got a
couple of tunes that are begging for this flute to give them a voice.
Watch out, neighbors... Kokopelli has descended and will be hanging out at
my residence for a while!
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being
such a gentleman and making this whole transaction a very satisfying one.
I will never forget this! Of course, I will continue to indulge in your
creations as my flute journey progresses.
Peace, warm hugs, and flutations to you & Amelia,
Bruce & his new Koa Crow
