Mary Youngblood Songbooks, Sheet Music for the Native American Flute

I am very pleased to offer you another resource for sheet music for the Native American flute. These books can be purchased alone or with the CDs. This gives you the opportunity to hear the music that's in the books. The music is written in Nakai tablature. The Mary Youngblood books are written in "finger tab." as well.

Remembrance, Songs from a Journey by John Vames

Just released, April 2011 is "Remembrance: Songs from a Journey" by John Vames. As some of you may know, John taught Native American Flute to many people at Scottsdale Community College. John loved to play and teach music. He worked as a professional flute, sax/woodwind player all his life. An accomplished musician, John spent the latter part of his public life teaching and playing the Native American Flute. John passed away in 2010, but his wife Sherry has gleaned some of his recordings, put them on CD and had them transcribed to sheet music in Nakai tablature. Songs for All Seasons Songbook with Companion Play Along CD: Select Songs by Mark Holland & Autumn's Child

Songs for all Seasons is Mark Holland’s Native American flute songbook featuring his personal selection of songs from his massive collection of published works. This marvelous collection of songs showcase Marks’ talents as a songwriter and performer. This easy to play 76 page songbook, features ten of his original compositions transcribed in Nakai flute Tablature and finger charts for the six hole flute and one song transcribed in Toubat tablature and finger charts for the diatonic six hole flute. No matter what level of flute player you are, you can play these songs. Also included is the first ever “Flute Karaoke” CD! A play along companion CD featuring four songs with no flute tracks. All the other instrumental portions of the songs are on the CD so that you can blend your own flute playing style with the music. All ten of the songs can be heard on Marks original recordings: For Such A Time As This, Visions and Dreams, Four Winds, Born Out of Silence, Progressive World, Four Winds & Storytelling, Greatest Gift. A note about the included CD. It contains the backing tracks for 4 of the songs in this book. It's like you have Autumn's Child playing the backing tracks using guitar, cello, percussion, etc. without the Native American Flute. The music for the flute is written in the book and you provide the flute part. They're calling it "flute karaoke" in the book. Suffice it to say, the musicianship and arrangements are world class as they are the backing tracks you hear on Mark's records.

The Four Directions by Carl Bludts with Companion CD

"The Four Directions" Native American Songs
A book - Compact Disc combo featuring twenty traditional Native American songs and original compositions by Belgian flute player Carl Bludts. The songs are written in both the "Tab" developed by R. Carlos Nakai and in finger charts. The companion CD features Carl playing all the songs in the book and was recorded dry for ease of learning. The songs on the CD are recorded with natural ambience. That is to say the flute is not "treated" with any kind of added reverb or delay. The tracks are "dry" just like you hear when you're playing without any amplification or effects. Personally, I think this can help the musician relate to the songs while learning because your flute will sound basically like Carl's flute (as long as you're in the same key and your tuning is close to his). This book contains traditional songs as well as some songs written by Carl Bludts. Spiral bound.
